Tell the Senate to Pass Stronger Toxic Chemical Standards

Most chemicals used in consumer products have never been tested for their long-term health effects. This means that the ordinary products we use each and every day--things like cleaning supplies, toys, cookware, and even our clothing--may contain toxic chemicals that are inhaled by our children.

That's because of an outdated federal law that addresses chemicals in consumer products. The law is so weak that chemicals are not tested for human health hazards before being allowed on the market, and chemical manufacturers may keep secret, even from government regulators, the majority of the ingredients in their chemical formulations.

A new bill introduced in the Senate could change all that. The bill, known as the Safe Chemicals Act of 2013, would strengthen the way our government regulates toxic chemicals, prioritizing the health of our children by requiring more thorough health testing, before these chemicals end up in the bodies of our children. Join us in telling the Senate to pass stronger toxic chemical standards and keep the air within our homes safe and clean for our children.

Dear [Your Senator],

A message from Dominique Browning, Co-Founder of Moms Clean Air Force

When I was raising two boys--and holding down a full time job--I didn’t think I had time to get involved in big policy issues. That was someone else’s job. But what I’ve been learning about the connection between air pollution and children’s health has been a wake-up call. Air pollution is an urgent issue.

I’ve been surprised to learn how much of a difference I can make with just a few minutes of effort. One click—one minute—and Washington officials will get a letter telling them you care about clean air.
